Driver killed in crash near Stafford named as local man

A man who died after a crash near Stafford has been named by police.

Samuel Myatt died yesterday after the Vauxhall Corsa he was driving crashed on the A518 on Saturday.

The Corsa was the only car involved in the crash, which happened between Haughton and Stafford near The Villa Cattery at around 6.25pm.

The 20-year-old from Gnosall, a village past Haughton on the A518, died as a result of his injuries at Royal Stoke University Hospital.

Specialist officers continue to support Mr Myatt's family, who have requested privacy at this time.

Meanwhile collision officers are investigating the crash and have appealed for anybody with information to come forward.

Anyone who witnesses the crash or who has relevant dash-cam footage is urged to call 101 quoting incident number 609 of January 12.
