Two men and a woman were cut from two vehicles following the crash in Tixall Road, close to Milford.

The woman driver of a Mazda 600 was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

She was being treated for a fractured tibia, shattered kneecap and broken ankle.

Two men in a VW Passat were also taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The accident happened just before 7.05pm on Monday. Emergency services were at the scene for almost three hours.

The road was closed at the junction with Blackheath Lane, close to Stafford Crematorium.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “A man in his 20s, a passenger from one car, suffered a cut to his face as well as knee pain. He was given pain relief and immobilised before being taken to Stafford County hospital.

“A man in her 30s, the driver of the same car, suffered pain and abrasions to her body and was given pain relief before being taken to the same hospital for further checks.

“A woman, the driver of the second car, believed to be in her 40s sustained a serious leg injury as well as other injuries. She was taken to Royal Stoke University Hospital.”

Meanwhile, drivers faced rush hour delays after overnight roadworks on the M6 were delayed. The northbound carriageway between J14 and J15 remained shut yesterday morning as a result.

Motorists faced hold-ups along the A34 and A449 Wolverhampton Road and throughout Stafford town centre.
