Gail Tilsley, 57, from Cannock, said: "It's brilliant. It's a fantastic venue with the two big screens and as I live just up the road, it's perfect.

Scott Bishop, 29, from Penkridge, said: "The atmosphere tonight has been quality. Bar sport have laid on a good event with a good crowd and it's a good local event for people in the area.

"It's been top class and definitely worth it. Pubs and clubs are struggling in the area and it's great to have this on and it's been a great turnout for a Monday night."

The three ex-pros were a huge draw for fans with tickets selling fast for the first event of this years World Cup.

Johnny Ingerfield, 45, from Cannock, said: "I'm a Villa fan! But the setting's fantastic, with my friends and family around so it's all good. It's fantastic to see Matt Murray though, it's my first time."

David Palmer, 47, from Walsall, said: "Matt Murray is an excellent speaker when he gets going, he's just brilliant. He knows his stuff. It's a great atmosphere here."

Paul Gough, 47, from Norton Canes, said: "We're regulars here, we come every Euros and World Cup and it's always a good night.

"It's brilliant. I'm an old acquaintance of Steve Daley so it was nice to have a chat with him. Having the other two as well is great.

"It's been a great atmosphere here again, sometimes it can be a little subdued when England play, a bit like Wolves of the old days, very predictable.

The owner of The Premier Suite and Bar Sport, Scott Murray, said: "It's been a great day for Cannock and having the three ex-Wolves players is brilliant especially with a lot of us here being Wolves fans.

"It's great to get their expert opinion and it adds something special to the game.

"We're extremely busy for the Belgium game and of course the Panama game will be good as its a Sunday afternoon. It's been a great crowd, no hassle and lovely people and everyone went home happy as England got the result they wanted."

Scott and his staff will now be looking forward to their next two events and England's next two group games against Panama and Belgium as Steve Kindon and Steve Daley host guests for both games whilst also being joined by Wolves legend Steve Bull for the game against the South-American side.
