whg has announced it has awarded the contract for the site at Walsall Road, Norton Canes to Vistry Partnerships Ltd (formerly Galliford Try Partnerships).

Works have now commenced on site with an anticipated completion date for the scheme of Autumn 2021.

Planning approval to build 67 properties on the land was granted in June 2019.

The development will include 14 homes for shared ownership and 53 for affordable rent, including one and two bed apartments and two, three and four bed homes.

Rebecca Bennett Casserly, corporate director of development, said: “We’re looking forward to working with Vistry Partnerships to build these homes, which address the need for affordable houses in Staffordshire and give more families the chance to put down roots in their neighbourhood.”

The development is one of several schemes whg is working on in Cannock. These include Pye Green Road, in Hednesford, where whg will acquire 50 social rent homes and 17 homes for shared ownership from developers Barratt David Wilson, and 37 homes at Brownhills Road, Norton Canes.
