A full inquest will take place later this year into the death of a Tipton man found by divers in the River Severn.

Police searched the river at Frankwell Quay

Ashley James Atkins, 33, was found in the water at Frankwell Quay, Shrewsbury, on April 17.

The opening of the inquest into his death took place today.

Coroner's officer Michael Caesar-Homden told the hearing that Mr Atkins was a kitchen service manufacturer.

He said the death was confirmed by a police officer in Frankwell at 4.42pm.

The following day his body was identified by his sister and mother.

Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin coroner John Ellery adjourned the inquest for a full hearing to take place on July 31.
