The animals and staff of Brockswood Animal Sanctuary in Sedgley were welcoming back visitors on Saturday after the work had been completed to remove a large willow tree which had split in half two weeks earlier and fallen into nearby animal paddocks.

The incident happened on Saturday, October 14, and saw the main pathway through the sanctuary blocked off, although the sanctuary did post on its Facebook page that no animals had been harmed, while also saying that it would remain closed until the tree had been safely removed.

A spokesman for Brockswood wrote: "Unfortunately, we cannot open for your safety. One of our very large willow trees fell into one of the paddocks this afternoon, blocking off our main pathway.

"As you can see from the photos, the damage is severe, and we have to ensure your safety before reopening.
