Matthew Bunn, from Kingswinford, decided to take on the challenge virtually with some friends and set up a fundraising page when he started.

The 43-year-old hit his first target of £150 in minutes and has now raised more than £2,500 for the charity.

Matthew, a father-of-three, said: "With everything being so restrictive I wanted to get out and improve my fitness. I decided to join a couple of friends, virtually, doing a 100km running challenge during the month of March.

"After completing my first run I decided I might as well try and raise some money for charity while I was doing it.

"I set up a Facebook fundraising page to raise money for Breast Cancer Now. My wife, Leanne, was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer in 2016 and this October will mark the five year anniversary at which point she can class herself as a 'survivor'.

"I set it up with an initial £150 target which I hit within 10 minutes! I raised it to £500 and again two hours later I received a message to say I’d reached my target. I increased it £1,000, £1,500, £2,000 and I just last weekend reached £2,500.

"It's phenomenal, when I first launched it I thought I'd just get it up and running. I'm hoping I could hit the £3,000 mark.

"I am currently at 90km and am set to smash the target 100km. My aim now is to do as many more km as possible and raise as much money as possible. I plan to maybe run towards the end of the month in fancy dress.

"I've done the odd run here and there, but I thought I've got to get out and keep fit.

"My wife is very grateful too. It's been overwhelming how much I have raised."
