Dudley Council has put an emergency road closure in place on B4179 Commonside so repairs can be carried out.

Video shared on social media showed streams of water moving along the road on Tuesday night after the breakage.

The road closure is affecting traffic and motorists have been asked to avoid the area.

The closure is in place between Bryce Road, Bromley Lane and Tiled House Lane.

Burst water pipes can occur due to ground movement from changes in rainfall and temperature.

Mike Morris, Network Performance Manager at South Staffs Water, said: “We are really sorry for any inconvenience caused. We are working to fix the burst as quickly as possible.

"The repair is taking longer than expected due other services blocking access to the water main.

"We would like to thank residents, businesses and motorists for their patience while we get it fixed.”
