The walking event, organised by Dudley Council, normally takes place in May – but was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

But organisers had planned for the popular event to take place on Sunday, September 13, operating on a scaled back format to previous years – with only two walks available.

But on Thursday night, organisers announced that event had been cancelled again – due to the latest restrictions on the number of people legally allowed to meet outdoors.

In a statement, organisers said: "We are very sorry to announce that following the Government’s latest Covid-19 guidance, and on the advice of public health, that this year's Dudley Trail in association with The Lee, Shaw Partnership has been cancelled.

"A full refund will be issued automatically."
