M6 crash: 'Vibrant, loving' student dies after journey back to university

Tributes have been paid to Demi Nicholson who died yesterday - a day after she was seriously injured in the crash.

The crash happened on the M6 northbound between junction nine for Wednesbury and junction 10 for Walsall and Wolverhampton.

Police said the 21-year-old was travelling from her home in Gloucester to Liverpool at around 11.15pm on Friday when her Vauxhall Corsa crashed with a blue BMW.

She was treated by the ambulance service and taken to hospital with serious injuries - but could not be saved.

Her devastated parents Novlet and Neville said: "Demi was a vibrant, loving 21-year-old who left a mark on everyone's life that she touched.

"Demi was travelling back to university in Liverpool, following Christmas with her family, when tragically she was involved in the collision.

"Demi also leaves behind her brother Stefan, sister Chantè, niece and nephew and so many more family and friends whose lives will never be the same again.

"Due to her infectious love of life, go-getter attitude and the love and care she showed for others, she will never be forgotten and will live forever in our hearts."

The driver of the BMW was treated for his injuries and will be spoken to by police as a matter of course.
