More than than 30,000 images found on Jolyon Adams' laptop were left uncategorised

Shrewsbury Crown Court was told that Jolyon Adams, 52, had been found with thousands of images and videos of child abuse on his computer when police raided his home in September 2021.

When officers examined the laptop they found so many images and videos that they stopped reviewing, leaving more than 30,000 images uncategorised, because the thousands they had assessed had already passed the prosecution threshold.

Tariq Shakoor, prosecuting, told the court that the images included sickening abuse of babies and young children, as well as animals.

Adams, of Waterloo House, Waterloo Croft, Lichfield, admitted five charges – three of making indecent photos of children, one of possessing prohibited images of children, and another of possessing an extreme pornographic image involving an animal.

Mr Shakoor said that police found 3,056 category A images on Adams' computer, 4,018 category B images, and 12,401 category C images.
