Driver admits dragging Walsall police officer down street as he tried to arrest him

A banned motorist dragged a Walsall police officer along the road with his hand stuck in a car window.

James Delaney, 42, on Monday pleaded guilty to assault by beating an emergency worker, driving while disqualified and driving without insurance.

The case relates to an incident which took place in Middle Piece Way in Willenhall town centre on February 22 last year resulting in West Midlands Police issuing an appeal to find Delaney.

The matter was adjourned and Delaney, of Lydney Close, Willenhall, was remanded in custody to be sentenced on March 30 in Stafford.
