Bail refused for man accused of murdering man in Oldbury

A man charged with the murder of a man in Oldbury has been denied bail.

Simon West, aged 51, died in hospital after being found with serious head injuries following an alleged assault, in Wolverhampton Road, at around 5.40pm on December 10.

Arslan Farooq, aged 24, appeared at a hearing at Birmingham Crown Court on Tuesday, charged with Mr West's murder and dangerous driving.

His application for bail was rejected and the defendant, of Erdington, was remanded in custody until March 3 when the case will next be heard.
