Four suffer stab wounds in major city centre disorder

At least four people suffered stab injuries in a major disorder in Birmingham which may have involved up to 15 people.

Buses and traffic have been diverted from the scene on Hockley Hill northbound, between Well Street and A41 Soho Hill.

The road has been closed since 4.50am today, with a police cordon at the junction of Vyse Street and again at Well Street.

Photos from the area also show a large number of officers nearby and a police van parked at the Tanina Lounge bar.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: "We received several reports of a disorder at 4.40am today (22 Aug) around Great Hampton Street, near Vyse Street, in Birmingham.

"It’s understood up to 15 people may have been involved. At least four people suffered stab injuries, including one man who is seriously ill in hospital.

"One man aged 24 has been arrested on suspicion of wounding and remains in police custody.
