Safe containing cash stolen from travel agents in Wombourne

Police cordoned off Travel Bureau in the High Street as an investigation was launched.

Officers believe the burglary happened overnight Monday into this morning.

Staffordshire Police say a burglar broke into the shop and stole a safe containing cash.

Police have not revealed the quantity of cash taken.

Officers appealed for anyone into the area between 5.30pm on Monday and 7.30am today who saw anything suspicious to come forward.

Councillor John Pike, vice-chair of Wombourne Parish Council, said: "It's certainly out of the blue.

"It's disturbing news that these sort of incidents are happening on your doorstep - it's most unlikely Wombourne.


"We have a police report every month at the parish council and obviously this will be highlighted, but it's deeply worrying."

Anyone with information being urged to call 101 quoting incident number 102 of January 21.
