Thieves have been stealing catalytic converters from vehicles across various areas of Walsall.

Police said they have recorded a spate of thefts of catalytic converters from vehicles, mainly Mercedes Sprinter vans in areas including Willenhall, Bloxwich, Darlaston and Aldridge.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "Take steps to protect your vehicle, such as parking in well-lit places or in a place where access to the vehicle is restricted.

"There are various security systems available for catalytic converters including property marking kits, and specialist security devices can be purchased from as little as £100 - plus fitting - far less than the replacement cost of the unit itself.
