Two teenagers injured in Birmingham shooting

Two teenagers were injured when shots were fired in a Birmingham suburb.

A 15-year-old boy suffered a gunshot wound to the back in the attack in Victoria Road, Handsworth, at around 8.15pm on Fridayand is in a serious but stable condition in hospital.

Another boy, aged 14, suffered an injury to his arm which is not believed to be serious.

The shots are thought to have been fired from a car which then drove off.

Detectives are sifting through CCTV footage from the area and a police cordon remained in place this morning while inquiries continue.

In an appeal for witnesses, Detective Sergeant Matt Marston, from West Midlands Police CID, said: "We are still piecing together the circumstances around what happened but we will not tolerate anyone being shot, especially not teenagers.

"We are determined to catch whoever was responsible and I would urge anyone with information which can assist us to get in contact as soon as possible."
