Witness wounded by knife in Stafford post office robbery

A robber threatened a member of the public at knife-point cutting their hand during a post office before fleeing with a haul of cash on a pedal bike.

The incident took place at the Stone Road post office in Stafford at 9.45am on Monday.

Staffordshire Police are investigating the incident.

A spokeswoman said: "At 9:45 on Monday, September 4, a man in dark clothing and white trainers, with a purple backpack, has robbed the Stone Road Post Office and injured a witness.

"The robber stole a quantity of cash and lightly wounded a witness's hand with a knife he was carrying.

"The robber then made off on a bicycle and was last seen riding past the Cooperative Food store.

"Officers attended and made a search of the local area, but unfortunately we were unable to find anyone fitting that description.

"Paramedics treated the injured witness at the scene.

"If anyone has any information that can help us catch the robber, please call 101."
