£3.2m has been earmarked for improvements to Wednesfield High Street.

Wednesfield received the cash boost from the Government's Towns Fund two years ago, on the back of a campaign by Wolverhampton North East MP Jane Stevenson.

No work has yet taken place, but bosses say they are confident the project will get under way later this year once a contractor has been appointed.

The funding is earmarked for major improvements to High Street and the area around the market, including changes to road junctions and kerbs, more seating, better lighting and security, and revamped market stalls.
