The event was scheduled to take place on Thursday, March 19 at the International Convention Centre in Birmingham city centre, with 1,400 people due to attend.

Chief executive Paul Faulkner said: “We have been monitoring the developing coronavirus situation on a daily basis and our top priority remains the safety and wellbeing of our guests, suppliers, employees and their families.

“The annual dinner and awards is the biggest event of its kind in the West Midlands. Given the size and scale of the dinner, with 1,400 people due to attend, the decision has been taken to postpone the event.

“Tickets have already been issued and will remain valid for the new date, which will be confirmed as soon as possible.

“In the meantime, please keep an eye on our communications through email, our Chamberlink Daily news bulletin and @GrBhamChambers on social media for further updates.”

The rest of the chamber’s events calendar will go ahead as planned, unless official Government advice or circumstances beyond control, such as venue closure, prevent this.

The chamber will continue to monitor the situation on a daily basis and, should policy change, it will issue communications as soon as possible to inform customers and delegates.
