Good news from US boosts JLR
There was some better news for Jaguar Land Rover as it announced a record October sales month in the United States.
Land Rover sales were up 43 per cent year-on-year to 7,846 with Land Rover Discovery up 33 per cent and Range Rover Sport up 95 per cent.
Jaguar sales were 2,648 – an eight per cent fall from October 2017.
JLR total October US sales reached 10,494, a 25 per cent increase from 8,368 a year before.
“We are very proud to have achieved our best October sales month ever for Jaguar Land Rover,” said Joe Eberhardt, president and chief executive of, Jaguar Land Rover North America,
“Stellar monthly sales for both the Land Rover Discovery and the Range Rover Sport have also helped the Land Rover brand set a new US October sales record, reflecting the continued strong demand for sports utility vehicles in our market.”
Earlier this week JLR, which has its engine manufacturing centre at the i54 site in Wolverhampton, revealed a £90 million loss for the three months to September as falling sales cut its income.
The number of cars it sold over the three months fell by 13.2 per cent compared to last year, down to 129,887 worldwide. That dragged down JLR revenue by 10.9 per cent, to £5.6 billion – around £700 million less than last year.
JLR plans to launch 16 new cars and SUVs globally between 2019 and 2024 to help rejuvenate sales
The company has confirmed the launch of the new Land Rover Defender by 2020 and will also launch two more Jaguar cars in the near future.
