Tell us your stories of Queen's Coronation

Sunday marks the 60th anniversary of the Queen's Coronation – and we want to hear your memories of the day.

On June 2, 1953, Elizabeth was crowned Queen in Westminster Abbey as the Black Country and Staffordshire celebrated with street parties.

It was also one of the first major television events as millions of us gathered around black and white sets to watch the young Queen being crowned.

It was a damp, drizzly and grey day in London as the golden coach carried Elizabeth to Westminster Abbey. She had actually been resistant to having the great occasion filmed inside the abbey.

Happily, she changed her mind, or we would have been denied that wonderful, grainy footage of an irreplaceable slice of our history.

So where were you when it all happened? In London? At a street party? Watching the new era unfold on a little black and white TV, maybe in somebody else's front room? Or a baby in arms taken along by the family but knowing little about it at the time? As we get set to mark the anniversary, let's hear some of your memories, or those passed on to you by the previous generation.

This year is not going to be as busy as last but there is a summer of celebrations and the solemn service of thanksgiving, always so important to Her Majesty.

So let's hear your memories. If you have any precious pictures marking the occasion let's see those as well.
