Tiger burning bright at home

Buster, a rare white Bengal tiger cub, is the pride of his keeper's pets after being abandoned by his mother.

Veterinary nurse Lucy Pearsall stepped in to bottle feed the youngster and monitor his progress.

Since then he has stayed at her side and developed into a strong and playful cub and likes nothing more than to play with Lucy's four domestic cats at home. He even uses the cat flap to escape into her garden.

He was the only cub born to mother Tikva on June 15 at West Midland Safari Park at Bewdley and everything appeared to be normal and staff thought the two were bonding well.

But within 24 hours it became obvious that Buster wasn't feeding and was virtually left for dead.

Staff found Buster cold and dehydrated and he weighed barely two kilogrammes.

Now Buster is a healthy 7.5 kilos, and is fully cat litter trained, at home and in the office and is delightfully affectionate. Although extinct in the wild, the West Midland Safari Park has eight white Bengal tigers.
