Stalls were set out at the Mander Centre, Wolverhampton, where unique handmade products of all kinds were on offer to view and buy.

Among the crafts people to showcase their work was Dudley-based author Robert Marsters, aged 55, from Dudley, who has published a fantasy trilogy.

He said: "The market was great fun - not only for the public but fellow craft exhibitors showed a great interest in my books."

Other items on show was animal engravings on wood, pillows featuring intricate unicorn designs and products by the Wolverhampton School of Art from the city's university.

Mr Marsters added: "The lady next to me was a full time English teacher and borrowed the first book, managing to read half of it in a single day, despite being very busy herself, as we were preparing to pack away, she made some lovely comments and bought the trilogy."

"To date, I have written a high fantasy trilogy that has been published in sections over the past two years.

"It contains new races, species and dragons and is suitable for all readers of the genre, ages ten to retirees.

"Dozens of five star reviews and comments made by readers have spurred me on and I am now in the process of writing a prequel to the trilogy."

The festival, organised by a group of locally-based designers, was held on Saturday inside the shopping centre's building. It is run in partnership with Artsfest which currently ongoing until June 30. A series of events are taking place as part of the two month-long festival, which is being staged by the University of Wolverhampton.
