Stay Loose Records is promoting a month of free live performances from their shop in Farmers Fold in Wolverhampton.

Ian Davies, who opened the shop in April 2018, said that past performances at the shop had helped to promote it and generate new interest in vinyl records.

He said: "I've done quite a few live events as I think it's a good way of bringing people together to enjoy good music and buy vinyl records

"I find that every customer's different. A lot of people want to buy back the vinyl that they got rid of in the 90s when CDs took over.

"Youngsters tend to like vinyl because, a lot of the time, you get a free download, which means that you get the best of both worlds with a physical thing that you can take home and a download that can go on your phone."

The bands performing at the shop are an eclectic mix of Indie and Rock bands and songwriters, with Ian saying that all but one come from the local area.

He said: "Shawn Gambowl and the Plagiarists are an electrical and very lively band, the Proctors are an 80s-style Indie band, Methods are a very good electronic band, Mercury Machine are from Manchester and they're a mix of electronic, indie and rock, Eliza May is a singer/songwriter and very urban in her music and White Flag Dares present an alternative indie sound."

The first performance will be from Shawn Gambowl and the Plagiarists on Saturday, September 14, with a performance each Saturday over the next five weeks, concluding with White Flag Dares on Saturday, October 19.

Ian said that events like this highlight the importance of vinyl shops, with Wolverhampton possessing a wealth of shops.

He said: Wolverhampton has more vinyl shops than Birmingham, so I think this should be celebrated through events like this."
