The Brierley Hill Society of Artists has returned to the Red House Glass Cone in Wordsley with its annual showcase, running until March 18.

It features a range of pieces including watercolours, silk prints, oils, pastels, textiles, acrylics and lino prints and work includes local and country scenes, portraits, still life and life drawings.

There are nearly 120 framed prints on display, plus 95 unframed prints and a total of 27 artists represented.

Pieces include local scenes including the cone itself, the Clent Hills, Black Country canals as well as pictures from further afield including Askrigg in North Yorkshire, Whitby and Venice.

Some of the most popular portraits with a local flavour include actor and Freeman of the Borough Sir Lenny Henry as well as Tommy Shelby, star of Peaky Blinders.

All work is for sale and items include prints and framed items, all of which are reasonably priced with pieces available at £15 upwards.

It is a bumper year this year, with staff at the cone having to get more wracking in for the display space due to the sheer number of paintings, with a large increase in the number of prints too.

There is also a small children’s exhibition and the group hopes that this will grow as more younger members join the group.

The Red House Glass Cone, High Street, Wordsley, is open from 10am to 3pm Monday to Friday and 11am – 4pm at the weekends. Admission is free.
