Wednesfield Cons marching on at the top

Wednesfield Cons continued their 100 per cent record in the Aldridge & District Snooker League with a 4-1 triumph over Poet’s Corner C.

Andy Price, Oliver Spooner and Lee Thomson won the opening three frames, before Harry Garbettpull pulled one back for Poets Corner C with an impressive break of 48.

Lee Bannister wrapped up victory for Wednesfield Cons to send them to the top of the division.

Stafford Institute returned to winning ways with a 5-0 away triumph over Rushall Labour A.

Wins for Daniel Leaton-Leeds, Chris Ward, Malcom Wharne, Steve Heath and Graham Beardmore propelled Stafford Institute to a comprehensive victory.

Third-placed Pelsall Social A kept up pace with the top two with a 5-0 victory at Landywood A courtesy of wins for Lee Cross, Adrian Rosa, Paul Harrison, Steve Smart and Nathan Aston.

Poet’s Corner A cruised to a 5-0 win over Aldridge A with wins from Pommy Kang, Riley Parsons, Chris Lane, Dave Blunt and Daniel Hartley helping them climb into fourth.

Elsewhere, Charlemont A racked up a 4-1 win at home to Bloxwich Memorial A. Dan Roden, Daniel Ward, Ricky Sadler and Chris Compton were Charlemont’s frame winners, before Josh Walker pulled one back in the final frame with a break of 40.

Dartmouth Central lead the way in Division One with a four point advantage after they retained their 100 per cent record with a 3-2 victory over Charlemont B.

David Collins and Liam Wright won Dartmouth’s frames, whilst Michael Skidmore and Jesse Lowe were victorious for Charlemont to set-up a final frame decider.

Andy Hickman clinched victory by a score of 44-36 to collect their seventh win of the season.

Pelsall Social B climbed into second following a 5-0 home triumph over Norton Vic thanks to wins for Dave Ball, Clive Smith, Alex Humphries, Mike Williamson and Dave Waldron.

Q Bar A sit third following a narrow 3-2 home victory over Lichfield Road BC, whilst Old Hall B lost 3-2 at home to Darlaston Cross.

In the Individual Handicap, four-time winner Adrian Rosa was knocked out by Lee Holder, who collected a 3-1 victory.

Wednesfield’s Lee Bannister was beaten 3-2 at home by Old Halls’ Mick Neil, whilst Bannister’s fellow teammate Dan Ward was defeated 3-1 by Darren Millard.

Elsewhere, Stewart Baker prevailed 3-0 over Craig Homer, and last year’s runner-up Rob Wharne progressed with a 3-1 win against Alex Humphries.

Alan Hathaway, O’Neill Francis, Stewart Jones and Josh Walker also made it through to the next round.

The opening round of the Champion of Champions saw last year’s winner Jack Harris beat Robbie James 3-2.

Ian Miles also knocked out Landywood’s Dave Turner 3-2, and Lee Bannister was victorious over Poet’s Corners’ Lee Dennant.
