England aces heading to Kidderminster
International cricket is coming to Kidderminster with the club hosting T20 games in the Physical Disability World Series for the second year.
England captain Iain Nairn will lead the national team at Chester Road on Monday in their game against Pakistan (11am).
Bangladesh will play Afghanistan at 3pm and Kidderminster will host the fourth and fifth play-off in the championship on Monday, August 12 (11am).
Gateshead-born Nairn, who has used a prosthetic limb since his lower leg was amputated at 16 months old due to a birth deformity, led his side to glory in the first-ever international tournament for physically disabled players in 2015.
Worcestershire teenage spinner Ben Sutton, who has a tarsal coalition where the bones are fused in his left ankle, wins his first England cap for the series, along with three other newcomers. Kidderminster chairman Les Vincent said: “We are delighted to welcome Iain and the rest of the England squad back to Chester Road. These guys have all overcome disability and their talent as cricketers shines through.
“It will be a great day of inspirational cricket and I hope people will come along and support all the players – especially our national team. Admission is free and the bar will be open for snacks and refreshments.”
Admission for the games is free.
Games will also be played at Bromsgrove, Old Elizabethan’s and Barnt Green, as part of the series with the semis and final at Blackfinch New Road on Tuesday August 13.
