Wolves dealt fresh injury blow as midfielder faces spell on sidelines

Wolves have suffered a fresh setback as summer signing Jordan James has picked up an injury.

Wolves have been dealt another injury setback, with midfielder Jordan James facing a short spell on the sidelines with a hamstring problem.

James missed out on Wolves’ Championship trip to Bristol City on Wednesday night and is also expected to sit out this weekend’s visit to Wrexham.

The 22-year-old has had to be patient since joining on loan from Rennes in August.

He made only his third league start for Wolves against Cardiff City last Saturday - it also marked consecutive starts for the first time since his arrival.

But, in a blow for both player and club, James was forced off just past the half-hour mark.

Boss Cesar Peixoto later revealed that the Wales international had complained of discomfort in the week leading up to the Molineux victory, but initial tests had shown no injury.

Further assessments were carried out following his early withdrawal against Cardiff, ruling him out of Wednesday’s clash at Ashton Gate as Wolves looked to extend their unbeaten league run to five matches.

Speaking pre-game on Wolves’ recent results and strong run, boss Cesar Peixoto said: “It’s the process, I believe in hard work, I believe in my players. I believe in what we do during the week.

“I think we have quality players and a lot of organisation. In some games, we concede amazing goals. I think we have been compact and better than we have been in the past. But we keep working hard and keep pushing the team.”

Wolves also have the chance move into the Championship’s automatic promotion places at Bristol City.

On the Championship standings, Peixoto added: “If we work like we work and play like we normally play, and fight and stay together, we’ll stay high in the table.

“For me, the important thing is the process, the team is pushing and improving. There are a lot of games to play but today the focus is three points for us.”
