Steve Bull: Wolves have to switch on – this is for real

Wolves’ mental focus will be put to the test as they finally get started again at West Ham this afternoon.

After three long months without a game, they have got to forget about the lack of crowd, forget about the banners, and just go and treat it as a proper game – not a practice match. And I am sure they will.

I watched the Villa and Sheffield United game on Wednesday and, to be fair, it was a bit drab, even though it was the loudest Villa Park has been in years!

To be fair to them, it was the first one, but when I watched the Manchester City game against Arsenal, that was a lot better.

The onus is on making a good start to the game and setting the tone for the rest of it.

It will be a tough game as West Ham are fighting for their lives, so we need to get ourselves on the front foot from the first whistle.

Nuno, in an ideal world perhaps, would have had another week to prepare his players, but the mood in the camp seems to be pretty positive.

It is here now and the lads, you have to think, will be in as good a shape as they can be – ready to go.

Another thing Nuno has been speaking about is his contract situation and he still seems fairly relaxed about it all.

I just think the club know where they want to go, and if they want to go places then they need to keep hold of the top players and the top manager.

So, in my eyes, they should be thinking about it amid these nine games we have left.

Why not tie him down before the end of the season? He has done a fantastic job for everyone connected with the club – the players, the fans, and the city

Morgan Gibbs-White has been forgiven for his lockdown breach, too, with it being said he has looked sharp in training.

When you do something as silly as he did, you let your actions on the pitch do the talking.

This is a big time for him as with Wolves being able to make five substitutions per game now, this could be his time to shine.

The opportunity very much appears to be there for him, so, hopefully, he takes it.

Finally, I just want to say Happy Father’s Day to all the Wolves-mad dads and grandads out there. Hopefully, we will be celebrating it on the back of a nice win.
