Denise Dennison's portrait of the war veteran, who has raised £30million for the NHS by doing 100 laps of his garden, has been added to the Wolves former players' fund for the Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust.

Almost £6,000 has been raised via the painting so far, with people donating a minimum of £5 to have a chance of winning the piece.

It is hoped £10,000 will be raised on top of the £28,000 already in the main fund, which was set up by former Wolves players, managers and staff – and is open to supporters.

A statement on the Just Giving page reads: "Captain Tom Moore has inspired the whole nation during the tough times experienced during the Covid-19 pandemic.

"Among those to have been inspired is Denise Dennison, wife of popular former Wolves and Northern Ireland winger Robbie.

"Now, Denise has very kindly decided to raffle the painting off via Just Giving, to support the former Wolves players, staff and fans fundraising for the Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust as they increase capacity at New Cross Hospital to treat patients with the coronavirus."

Moore celebrates his 100th birthday today, while Dennison – the former winger who spent 10 years at Wolves – is celebrating turning 57.

All funds raised through the painting will be added to the main fund, which is part of an all-round effort from the club including owners Fosun donating thousands of masks to health workers in the city and Nuno Espirito Santo's squad making a six-figure donation to the Trust.
