Matt Phillips is ready to return from injury against Derby County tomorrow night, Albion boss Darren Moore has confirmed.

The 27-year-old has been out for a month with a muscle strain after starting the season in red-hot form.

He was nearly ready to feature against Wigan Athletic at the weekend, but Moore decided not to risk him at the DW Stadium.

However, Albion's head coach is expecting Phillips to be available for selection at The Hawthorns.

"Saturday was a case of not risking him," said Moore. "He was ready but we just thought we wanted to give him a couple more days training. He is fit and available."

Albion still have doubts lingering over the availability of Craig Dawson, who was substituted off during Saturday's defeat to Wigan, and Gareth Barry, who missed that match.

"Obviously both players have taken knocks and we will assess both players and give them every opportunity," said Moore. "We will look at them again in the morning and make our decision off the back of that.

"As it stands here now, talking to the medical department, we want to give them every opportunity to be fit because they are looking good at the moment."

Bakary Sako is also available for selection and could be named in the squad for the first time, although a starting berth is unlikely.

"I'm a lot happier with where Bakary is now," said Moore. "We've worked tremendously hard with him to get that strength and stamina up.

"He's up to a level we're happy with. He's fit and available for selection."

Albion lost their first game in eight on Saturday, but Moore is grateful for the immediate chance to right the wrongs from Wigan.

"With this division it's very different to where we were last year in terms of the midweek games," he said.

"We have got a quick turnaround for Wednesday so it's one of those, when you are winning games you have momentum and the next one's coming.

"If you slip up or lose a game you have quickly got to look to the next game.

"Within 24 hours we have had to put the [Wigan] game behind us and look to the next game."
