Albion’s new boss wants to target characters with the right team ethic in this summer’s transfer window, his first as a head coach.

Although he will be helped by technical consultant Giuliano Terraneo and the recruitment team, chief executive Mark Jenkins has confirmed that it will be Moore who has the final say on all incomings.

The 44-year-old will also be identifying targets himself, and insists his 25-year career in football has made him enough friends in the game.

Moore played for eight clubs during two decades on the pitch, and also liaised with plenty of EFL outfits during his time in charge of Albion’s youngsters out on loan.

“I am looking forward to identifying individuals,” said Moore. “And I am really lucky that after my years in the game I know a lot of people and have a lot of contacts.

“Without doubt they will have exceptional ability but the characteristics are really important.”

Albion have been stung recently by marquee signings who have arrived on inflated wage packets but failed to live up to the hype.

Moore, who is predicting a ‘busy’ summer, wants all his new faces to be coming to The Hawthorns for the right reasons.

“The individual is important but it’s about the team and not isolating individuals,” he said. “Composure is needed on and off the pitch.”

Moore has spent the first couple of weeks of his tenure attempting to sort out his backroom staff and finalising which of his existing players are keen to stay next season.

He is expected to appoint an assistant head coach soon, and is now due to get stuck in to the search for new players.
