The Saddlers made good progress in their first season in the Staffordshire Girls and Ladies League in 2019/20 before the season was declared void due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Manager Donna Simpson-Ash is looking forward to the new campaign and the challenge of playing in a higher division.

“We are delighted with the news our application has been successful,” she said. “The team has made a lot of progress but the hard work starts now and we will now start the recruitment drive for next season so if anyone is interested in playing for us, please get in touch and join us on our exciting journey.”

Walsall chief operating officer Daniel Mole added: “We are absolutely thrilled for the women’s arm of our club.

“This is the culmination of a lot of hard work and puts us ahead of schedule in terms of our mid and long-term plans for Walsall Ladies.

“We are looking forward to building on this momentum and stamping our authority on the division. We will once again be using the wonderful facilities at Dales Lane and, when it is safe to do so, we will be encouraging our supporters to get behind our Ladies for the 20/21 campaign.”

Walsall Ladies will continue to play their home matches at Rushall Olympic’s Dales Lane.
