LIAM ROBERTS

Another solid performance from Roberts who has been extremely consistent. He gave away a controversial penalty but his teammates ensured it didn’t matter in the end. He couldn’t do anything about the second goal. 6

JAMES CLARKE

Clarke could probably play in goal and still play well. Taking up the right-back slot he was faced with some tricky wingers but was as effective in his defending. His goal was from another planet, considering he’s a defender. 8

DAN SCARR

The Dan Scarr of the last three games and the Scarr of the Bradford loss seem to be different people. Another mature, composed and solid defensive performance. It takes a lot for any opposition player to beat him in the air. 8

MAT SADLER

In his first start since the Grimsby loss, Sadler fitted seamlessly into the side. He struck up a professional relationship with Scarr and was rarely troubled. He showed his experience and maturity as a veteran defender. 7

ZAK JULES

At times in the first half Jules was being given the run around by Crawley's tricky wide men. But he held his own and grew into the game. His strong presence and speed is suited well across the back four. 7

RORY HOLDEN

It isn't quite clicking going forward for Holden just yet, but he, as ever, worked hard for the side. The talent is there and the trust of the manager should help his confidence, it should come good in time for the youngster. 6

DANNY GUTHRIE

Guthrie did nothing wrong, which is often the case, and worked hard for the side. At times in the second half Walsall were being overrun in midfield, limiting his effect on the game. He lasted 60 minutes after a tough run of fixtures. 6

STUART SINCLAIR

Tenacious is a word often used to describe Sinclair and it couldn't be more accurate. The midfielder puts his body on the line, will throw his head into challenges and high boots and helps Walsall tick in the middle. 7

WES MCDONALD

The flying winger is a nightmare to defend on his day and this performance was marvellous. Every time he gets on the ball the fans get up off their seats and with one assist and one goal the final product was there to match. 8

RORY GAFFNEY

Hard work and pressing is a-given with Gaffney who always puts a shift in for the team. He linked up well with teammates at times but is still just missing that one chance. The lack of crosses into him didn't help, but it'll come. 6

ELIJAH ADEBAYO

A very impressive 60 minutes from Adebayo on his return from injury. He held the ball up well, had some nice touches and linked up with McDonald to effect - particularly for his goal which he took well. 7

SUBS: Kinsella (for McDonald 55) 6, Gordon (for Adebayo 55) 6, Liddle (for Guthrie) 6.

Subs not used: Rose, Norman, Cockerill-Mollett, Hardy.
