The first half was a scrappy affair with little separating the two side with the Boro coming closest but substitute Joe Cuff put his effort into the side-netting.

Despite Boro pushing forwards and looking for a fourth home win of the season it was Hyde who struck and John McCombe headed home the opening goal after 74 minutes.

The Tigers doubled their lead six minutes later when Tom Pratt’s cross was met by substitute Tom Greaves who laid off striker Connor Simpson to place his shot into the top corner.

Defender Danny Burns, who signed for Rangers earlier this week from Nuneaton, scored on his debut with just four minutes left on the tie to give the home fans hope.

With Boro searching for a late leveler they were hit on the break deep into injury time with Simpson playing in Pratt who fired into the bottom corner to seal the win.
