The league has now finalised the schedule for the play-offs, with Villa playing the second leg of their semi-final on the evening of Tuesday May 14.

Dean Smith’s fifth-placed are the only team who know their exact finishing position in the table.

They are currently on course to face Midlands rivals Albion, who sit fourth, though the Baggies still stand a chance to pip Leeds to third place on the final day of the season.

That would instead pit them against either Derby, Middlesbrough or Bristol City in the semi-finals, with the three clubs currently in a battle for sixth and the final play-off spot.

Whichever teams finish third and sixth will face-off in the first-leg at 5.15pm on Saturday, May 11, with the second leg on Wednesday May 15.

Albion are already guaranteed to be at home for the second leg, regardless of opposition. The league have confirmed the fixture will kick-off at 8pm.

The schedule is as follows: Saturday May 11: 5th v 4th (12.30pm), 6th v 3rd (5.15pm).

Tuesday May 14: 4th v 5th*.

Wednesday May 15: 3rd v 6th*.

*Game will kick-off at 7.45pm unless at The Hawthorns, in which case it will be 8pm.
