This time, we’ll get it right! Wolves and England legend Steve Bull says this is the nation’s best chance of winning the World Cup since Italia 1990.

Bully is daring to dream with a rallying call for Gareth Southgate’s team ahead of today’s huge quarter final against Sweden.

Fans are starting to believe that football really IS coming home after the historic penalty shoot-out over Colombia on Tuesday night.

And now . . . well, England expects.

A record TV audience of more than 30 MILLION people will watching at weekend events, big screens, pubs and barbecue-smoked back gardens when the game kicks off at 3pm.

Bully, aged 53, was part of the England squad that suffered the heartbreak of losing on penalties to West Germany in the semi finals at the 1990 World Cup.

Today, he said: “This World Cup has been great . . . but now it could be magical – imagine the joy it will bring if we can go on and win it.

“It will be a tough game against Sweden but I believe we will be able to finally play our football, unlike when we played Colombia.

“There is plenty of excitement and I really hope the players can do the right things and take us to the semi-final.

“This time, more than any other time, has to be the best chance we have got of winning the World Cup since 1990.”

If Sweden collapse like some badly-built IKEA flat-pack, England will face either hosts Russia or Croatia, who kick off at 7pm tonight, in the semi-final.

Beat them and it’s either France, Belgium or Brazil in the Moscow final next Sunday.

That victory over Colombia on Tuesday night has sparked World Cup fever, with many businesses boosted by huge sales of beer, barbecues and England merchandise.

Viewing figures for the game are expected to beat the 26 million record for England’s quarter final loss against Argentina at the 1998 World Cup in France. Almost 24 million watched the victory over Colombia.

Bully played in four games for England at World Cup Italia 1990.

It's coming home! Bully is ready for the big match

The team beat Cameroon in the quarter final before losing on penalties to West Germany.

Bully said: “The team will be thinking the same as we did before Cameroon, ‘we can do it’.

“We had a great manager in the form of Bobby Robson, I see Gareth Southgate of similar make.

“The team today is young and hungry. I’m looking forward to the game and hoping we can get past Sweden.”
