The Mystic Meerkats at Drayton Manor Park’s 15-acre Zoo, near Tamworth in Staffordshire, have surpassed everyone’s expectations by predicting nine matches correctly so far during this year’s FIFA World Cup.

The latest predictions adding to this impressive total include anticipating that three points would be awarded to Croatia during their match against Argentina, and the incredible win for England as they defeated Panama over the weekend.

Not forgetting the one sneaky meerkat that joined in on the action to foresee Uruguay would win against Russia, the host nation, at the start of this week.

Drayton Manor Zoo has now put the mischievous creatures to the test again with even more animal enrichment. This time, most of the meerkat mob has decided Mexico will achieve a win against Sweden during their match on Wednesday 27th June.

However, when predicting England’s final group match, the Mystic Meerkats have determined that it will in fact be a draw when playing against Belgium on Thursday 28th June. Will these two predictions be enough to see the meerkats achieve more than ten correct games?

Chris Mitchell, Head of Zoo Operations at Drayton Manor, comments: “When we brought the Mystic Meerkats back for this year’s World Cup, we didn’t think they would forecast an incredible nine matches! They have certainly caught our attention with their sporting predictions and physic powers.

“It’ll be interesting to see if they get the next two matches right and if their predictions could reach double figures. Even if they don’t, they’ve made us proud and our meerkats have certainly enjoyed the animal enrichment they’ve been provided with too. The mealworms have gone down a treat!”
