Wolverhampton to Stafford railway line 'trespassers incident'

No services could run

Rail services between Wolverhampton and Stafford have resumed this morning following disruption caused by trespassers on the railway.

The line was blocked on Tuesday evening, with the incident reported at around 10pm. London Northwestern Railway (LNR) confirmed that no train services could run between Wolverhampton and Stafford while the incident was being dealt with.

Rail replacement buses were ordered to operate between Wolverhampton, Penkridge and Stafford to help passengers continue their journeys.

Avanti West Coast also warned passengers of disruption, advising that services running through the affected stations could be cancelled or delayed due to a safety inspection of the track.

The railway has since reopened this morning, allowing train services to resume through the affected section.

Passengers are advised to check before travelling, as some services may still experience residual delays or changes.
