Albion are set to be without captain George Campbell for Saturday’s home clash against Millwall.

The American central defender limped off at half-time during Tuesday’s 1-1 draw against Southampton at The Hawthorns with a groin issue.

Boss James Morrison confirmed the injury afterwards and said Campbell is unlikely to feature against the Lions at home on Saturday, the final match before a two-week international break.

Campbell was replaced by Nat Phillips at the interval against the Saints in a pulsating draw. The Baggies led at the interval through Isaac Price’s penalty but were pegged back shortly after the restart by Sammy Edozie as the hosts could not clear their box.

Morrison said of Campbell: “It’s early stages now, but he did feel his groin, so he'll probably be out for a bit.”

Albion attacker Kareem Tunde missed the clash with a foot injury picked up in the closing stages of the West Ham draw, where he was a substitute.

Morrison confirmed the Spanish winger is hoped to be available to face Millwall.

The head coach added: “I'm going to need all the squad, seeing tonight how thin we are and we know Kareem got a knock to his foot, so he couldn't make it.

“We've only got four injuries and we've had two young lads on the bench. Now we might have to fill it with a three on the bench.”

Albion were irresistible in a first period where they somehow managed to raise the levels from the stunning 3-1 win at West Ham on Saturday.

Price bagged a deserved opener from the spot but a slender 1-0 lead was a disservice to the dominance when Albion spurned openings for more through Jimmy-Jay Morgan and Price.

Saints rallied after the break and found a leveller through Edozie before both sides exchanged blows and could have found a winner. Max O’Leary saved from Kuryu Matsuki and Lewis Dobbin and Albion had efforts with Callum Styles, Aune Heggebo and Tammer Bany.

“I thought it was two very good teams, I thought we were really good in the first half,” added Morrison.

“Probably my only criticism was could we have scored one more in the first half and give us a bit more of a cushion.

“With the energy we put into it, it was always going to be hard to replicate it in the second half. With them being such a good team, the reaction came and we just couldn’t see it out.

“Crucial times in games, again we conceded, but both teams had chances and it was good advertising for the Championship.

“We are trying to have momentum to start halves well. They were really aggressive and we couldn’t get them off our backs and we conceded too much pressure.

“We played a little bit long, they forced us, and it was just coming back and we couldn’t defend our box.

“I think when they scored we sort of regrouped for 10 or 15 minutes, we had a couple of chances at the end, but I think on a whole it was a very good performance.”
