Faff or freedom?

Free at last. Or at least, next Wednesday the Prime Minister will trigger Article 50 and give us two years of wrangling and rows as she tries to extricate Britain from the United States of Europe.

The truth is, though, that we don’t need prolonged negotiations whatever the Remainders say.

We should stop all the faffing about and just go. EU President Jean-Claude Juncker wants to make our exit as painful as possible to serve as a warning to any other country with the temerity to want to run its own affairs. Let him try.

World trade arrangements allow us to trade quite happily with countries like Japan, China and the USA; they’ll work for the EU too.

Britain has a huge £60 billion trade deficit with Europe yet we enjoy a £28 billion surplus with the rest of the world. So where’s the problem?
