The annual Express & Star awards launched last month and are an opportunity for the kind-hearted people in our region to get the recognition they deserve.

While there is still plenty of time to make nominations – don’t let the chance to say ‘thank you’ pass you by.

Whether it’s a community hero or someone who always goes that extra mile to do what they can to help – the Express & Star thinks it’s time they were given some credit.

Deputy editor Diane Davies said: “Thank you to all the people who have supported the Express & Star’s Great Big Thank You Awards so far.

“Even though we’re delighted with the response already, we know there’s hundreds of people out there in the Black Country and Staffordshire who deserve to be recognised for their hardwork.

“From kind-hearted fundraisers to top teachers – we have eight awards up for grabs and hope people will make the effort to nominate the selfless individuals who make this area such a great place to be in.”

From a devoted volunteer who puts in hours of unpaid work just to help people less fortunate than themselves to that special person you can always trust, maybe you know someone who deserves recognition?

Whether adult or child, there are eight awards up for grabs in total, including: Ambassador of the Year, Community Champion(s), Fresh Start Award, Fundraiser of the Year, Leaner Award, Teacher of the Year, the Young Star Award and Volunteer of the Year.

Nominees will also have the opportunity to meet some of the most well-known faces of the region in a ceremony aimed exclusively at their achievements. To complete a nomination form for a selfless individual or group visit starthankyou.expressandstar.co.uk

The sparkling ceremony will take place early next year, with more details to be announced closer to the time.
