Pub in Staffordshire’s 'most idyllic village’ reopens after extensive transformation

The pub is welcoming guests back with a stunning new look.

The Spread Eagle in Rolleston has reopened its doors where you’ll find roaring fires, cosy corners and thoughtful touches.

Highlights of the remodel include elegant new interiors, and a stylish private dining room that seats up to 50 guests – ideal for everything from intimate suppers to larger gatherings.

The Spread Eagle remains true to what makes a country pub special: hearty food, a welcoming atmosphere, and the perfect place to unwind in comfort.

The Rolleston pub is also offering a revamped menu which boasts a selection of popular dishes including indulgent Beef and Red Wine Lasagne, slow-cooked Lamb Shank, and seared filled of Sea Bass.

And, for those guests craving country pub classics, you can look forward to sensational Steaks, traditional Fish & Chips, and the pub’s hearty Home-Baked Pie of the Day.

The venue also continues to champion traditional cask ales, including Bass and Pedigree, with the team keen to involve local customers in selecting future offerings.

Believed to date back to the 16th Century, the historic venue has long been at the heart of village life in Rolleston - described as “East Staffordshire’s most idyllic village” by residents themselves.

Situated beside the main bridge in the village, the building has served many purposes over the centuries, including as a schoolhouse and local court venue. Originally known as The Mosely Arms, it later became The Eagle Child before officially adopting the name The Spread Eagle in 1851.

Still a much-loved spot at the heart of the local community, The Spread Eagle offers a warm welcome to all – including four-legged friends.

Whether you're popping in before, during or after a countryside stroll, it’s the perfect place to rest, refuel, and soak up the relaxed, country pub atmosphere.

General Manager Matt Zelazo shared their excitement about the pub’s new look: “We’re so pleased to open our doors and welcome guests old and new to see what we’ve been working on at The Spread Eagle”.
