Principal leaves his £104k job

The principal of Walsall College, who was suspended in the summer, has left his post "by mutual agreement" with the board of governors, it emerged today.

The principal of Walsall College, who was suspended in the summer, has left his post "by mutual agreement" with the board of governors, it emerged today.
Chris Ball, who was paid £104,000-a-year was suspended from his duties at the college earlier this year along with the college's head of business Les Burn.
An announcement about Mr Ball's departure was made to staff last week.
The college's marketing chief John Beaty confirmed today: "It is with mutual agreement that Chris Ball, principal, has left Walsall College with effect from 30th November to pursue other interests."
Deputy Principal David Wheeler is continuing in his role as acting principal.
It is unclear whether any decision has yet been taken over Mr Burn's position.
Following Mr Ball's suspension the college's vice chairman of governors Keith Webb resigned because of the handling of the action taken against the principal. When Mr Ball was suspended in the summer the University and College Union (UCU) said staff had been warned not to talk to the media about the situation.
