Police issue warning to Birmingham Christmas Market goers ahead of 2026 event opening
Warning to stay vigilant ahead of Birmingham Christmas markets re-opening
There is a warning for people to be aware of their surroundings as Birmingham’s famous Christmas Market is scheduled to open this week.
The iconic Birmingham Frankfurt Christmas Market will begin its operations tomorrow (Thursday, November 5).
Officers want visitors to ‘ stay vigilant’ as they attend the markets, and have said that there will be more “more plain clothes and covert patrols” in Birmingham city centre.

Police officers will have a presence alongside police dogs, drones and CCTV operators to disrupt criminality and reassure visitors to the city centre.
Ellis Turner at Neighbourhood Policing Manager said: “The return of the Christmas markets signals the start of festivities for the region, with thousands of visitors expected to attend holiday events across city in the November-to-December period.

“When visiting we would ask members of the public to remain vigilant for criminal activity. Keep any valuables close by and secure and keep an eye on family and friends.
“We all have a role to play in keeping each other safe so that everyone can enjoy the festive period."
