Craddock, a long time art enthusiast who played for the club for 10 years, has put his latest acrylic painting in Wolverhampton's MD gallery for all to see.

Members of the public were given the chance to view his latest piece, which shows a number of goldfish swimming against a black background, as part of Art in the City, a new festival designed to take the work of local artists directly to people.

Held simultaneously throughout the week at 13 different locations including coffee shops, pubs, barbers and bookshops, the festival helps to promote aspiring artists by displaying their work in a relaxed environment.

Co-organiser of Art in the City, Roxanne Gooderham, said: "Jody is one of us really, he just wants his work to be seen by people because he is proud of it.

"There is a strong underground scene going on in the city at the moment and there is so much talent yet to be unearthed.

"Galleries can be a little bit overwhelming, sometimes its nice to view art in your own time and maybe you can appreciate it more that way."

Jody obtained an A-level in art before starting his career as a professional footballer.

Over the years, his work has accumulated growing interest and has been exhibited all over the country.

The public have responded positively to Art in the City, taking in work from Jody, Roxanne and others at their leisure.

Print maker Linda Nevill and water colour artist Ed Isaacs, who paints landmarks from Wolverhampton and Birmingham, are also guest artists who have helped boost Art in the City's profile.

Roxanne hopes that the effects of the event go beyond just helping those whose work is being exhibited.

Ms Gooderham said: "We are not just helping ourselves, we want to help businesses by bringing people out and into their shops.

"Working together can only be good for everybody and art brings people together in such a great way."
