Flooring Superstore helped refurbish Jericho House and fitted laminate and vinyl for the home's dining room, laundry and bathroom.

Jericho House has provided safe haven for over 3,000 women fleeing domestic abuse and currently provides shelter for 20 women and two children – with a further three babies on the way.

As well as emergency accommodation and meals, the charity also provides practical and emotional support, links with other services and assistance in finding housing.

The charity asked Wolverhampton branch of Flooring Superstore, which is located on St John’s Retail Park, for assistance.

Support worker Kerry Scott said: "We are self-funding so donations of this nature make a massive difference in providing items we just couldn’t otherwise afford. The previous flooring had been there for over 20 years and was well worn – the laundry just had a bare concrete floor.

"We provide safe refuge for women and their children and having a home that has nice flooring not only looks better, it makes you feel better and is a better environment for youngsters."

Flooring Superstore regional manager Simon Forrester said: "We’re delighted to have been able to support a local charity which does an amazing job helping women escaping domestic abuse.

"This is a perfect example of why we have a corporate social responsibility, and we would love to hear from other charities who may benefit from donations of flooring for their own particular projects.

"It’s our little way of giving something back and saying thank you to the community of Wolverhampton which has been so supportive since we opened a store in the town."
