Homes in Fallings Park, Heath Town, Wednesfield North, parts of Wednesfield South, Bushbury South and Low Hill will see the changes first.

The change sees bin collections go from weekly to fortnightly.

The shift from weekly collections sparked outcry from residents when it was first announced, amid fears of overflowing bins and more fly-tipping.

But council chiefs said they believed that by changing the service they could help improve it, while also increasing recycling.

Ross Cook, the council's service director for city environment, said the changes would be in full force by Christmas and would save the council £2.4 million each year.
