Air ambulance sent to Wolverhampton crash

A woman has been taken to hospital with head injuries after she was hit by a car in Wolverhampton.

An air ambulance was sent to the scene in Dunstall Road but the woman's injuries were only minor and she was taken to hospital by land ambulance.

Emergency services shut the road after the crash happened at around 11.10am but said it would soon be reopened.

The incident happened just a few streets away from where thousands of Wolverhampton Wanderers fans were gathered to celebrate the club's promotion to the Premier League.

Police attended the scene at Dunstall Road

A West Midlands Police spokeswoman said: "We were called to the scene at 11.10am for an incident involving a car and a pedestrian.

"Air ambulance attended but the injuries are not considering life threatening. A woman was taken to hospital with head injuries.

"The road is still closed but it is due to open again shortly."

West Midlands Police tweeted: "Dunstall Road is currently closed at the junction of Stafford Road due to a collision. Please plan your journey and find an alternative route."
